SCIP is a dynamic community of specification professionals. We support one another, facilitate the growth and advancement of the profession, and inspire current and future specifiers.

Vision


SCIP will be the leading organization for specification professionals and the voice for integrating specification practice across the AECO industry.

Goals and Strategies:


Strengthen the Specifier Pipeline: Expand outreach and mentorship to develop the next generation of specifiers, ensuring a sustainable and thriving profession.

  • Broaden and diversify SCIP's membership base by attracting in-house and emerging specification professionals.
  • Elevate the visibility and appeal of specification consulting by cultivating a proud, inclusive, and engaging professional community.
  • Expand strategic outreach and educational initiatives within architecture and design schools to promote specification consulting as a valuable career path.
  • Create and implement a robust mentorship program tailored for emerging specifiers and new consultant practices.


Elevate SCIP's Industry Presence: Enhance SCIP's visibility and influence within the AEC industry by strengthening external partnerships and improving marketing efforts.

  • Amplify the visibility and value of specifiers and the specification profession across the AECO industry.
  • Identify and prioritize partnerships that deliver measurable value and industry alignment.
  • Position SCIP as a go-to partner for standards development and advocacy within the industry.   

       
Expand Member Engagement & Value: Enhance SCIP's offerings to provide greater professional development, networking, and business support for members.

  • Build structured interest groups and forums to foster knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and peer support.

Ensure Organizational Sustainability: Strengthen SCIP's leadership, increase membership, and enhance operational capacity to support long-term sustainability.

  • Restructure membership categories to support inclusive growth and better governance representation.
  • Implement financial planning to ensure long-term organizational resilience.
